Who is Sutton Foster?
Sutton Foster is a two-time Tony Award winning actress, singer, and dancer, with credits across theater, TV, and film. She first entered the spotlight at the age of 15 as a contestant on the reality competition show Star Search. She made her Broadway debut just a year later as an ensemble member and understudy for Éponine in Les Misérables. Since then, Foster has been a regular on the Broadway stage. She won her first Tony Award for Best Actress in 2002 for her performance as Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie, and she won it a second time in 2011 for her performance as Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes. Recently, Foster starred as Marian Paroo opposite Hugh Jackman in the 2022 revival of The Music Man and as Princess Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress at New York City Center Encores. She most recently starred as Mrs. Lovett opposite Aaron Tveit in the 2023 revival of Sweeney Todd.
Beyond Broadway theater, Foster starred in the TV Land show Younger created by Darren Star (Sex and the City) from 2015 – 2021 and Bunheads created by Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls) from 2012 – 2013. Foster has also appeared in smaller roles on many popular TV shows including Flight of the Concords, Law & Order: SVU, The Good Wife, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
